Hey Andrew, I will field this one as i am a drummer too, Adam uses a DW 4000 peda,l Click here But i can see you are in the market for a higher end pedal, if you have that kind of money to spend, the DW 5000 series pedal you are thinking of is a great pedal but i personally (although Adam may disagree) would recomend you have a look at the pedal i just bought myself, its a Tama Iron Cobra Power glide double, Click here I am loving it at the moment and it is more adjustable than the DW pedals, ie you can adjust the footboard angle seperately to the beater distance from the drum, plus the springs are independantly adjustable (it even comes with 3 types of beater head and 2 types of spring). As for where you should go to get it i am a huge fan of a store called Andertons Click here in Guildford (near the police Station) the drum guys in there are really nice guys who will let you try out anything and they really know thier stuff. I hope this helps buddy. Peace - Wes

Well, since i have an R.E GCSE soon, and it's my birthday tomorrow, my mum says that i can have an expensive pedal if i get an A or A*, so the pedal will be for my birthday, and if i get an A, A*. If i do get a B i'll end up paying for half of it. So i was thinking of getting a DW 9002 from www.drumwright.co.ukIt's on sale there, so it's £350

Good luck with getting your results first! I still say go with the Iron Cobra, i would rate it as better than the 9002 ..but of course thats up to you. Just for reference tho the following are just a fraction of the people who use an Iron Cobra ;D : Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Joey Jordison (Slipknot), John Dolmayan (System Of A Down), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), David Silveria (Korn)..etc etc.... Plus they are on sale at Andertons, and i would strongly reccommend you dont buy a pedal without trying it first, thats why i never buy any drumming equipment from the internet. Hope this helps, oh and as you will probably be reading this on the 24th, Happy Birthday (15th i presume) Peace - Wes

yo andrew sorry its a bit late. first time i got the chance to log in recently! Wel i must say i agree with him about the iron cobra, its a f**kin nice pedal. I have the DW 4000 which its fine and i like how it give u easy access to the hi-hat. ( i beleive all the DW's do that.) i have not play the 9000 or 5000 but i am sure that they are wicked pedals. i think u should maybe go to andertons or some other shop and try your pedal. watever one of those pedals u decide i don't think u will be dissapointed. thanks for the question. appreciate it

maybe i will get an iron cobra... Whats the difference between "Power Glide", "Rolling Glide", and "Flexi Glide"? The only reason im not too kean in the iron cobra is that my drum teacher said he had one, but it snapped in two places :/ lol (also i think it looks a little ugly )

As i understand it the Power Glide (which i have) is the most heavy duty, twin chain drive one (rock pedal bigstyleee! ), the rolling glide is a single chain and the flexi glide is a belt, I dont know about your drum teachers pedal but I have never heard of one breaking before .... on the contrary, it is frequently described as the most heavy duty pedal about, plus i dont play soft let me tell you! But then even Ferrari make the odd dodgy car! I have got to know Jason Bowld (Pitchshifter, Hiding Place, This Is Menace, The One Condition, plus rent a drummer for This Illusion and GetAmped) reasonably well and it was him who recomended it (although dont tell anyone cus he is sponsored by Pearl) and in turn it was his friend (one Joey Jordison) who recommended it to him so it has good press....plus i would take it to be more sturdy than the DW pedals just cus it has one more support arm on the left pedal. As for the ugly aspect, thats a matter of opinion, i happen to think it looks almost as beautiful as to give me wood (sorry for the graphic nature im a bit drunk!) but then i always was unhealthily atrracted to drumming equipment! I'll make you a deal, your a St Georges boy correct? If you want to come and give it a go ill be happy for you to come round mine and try it out one day in the summer maybe when the ferox boys are about. Lemme know what you think......Also out of interest what is the spec of the rest of your kit? I play a Mapex/Zildjian set up (to drunk to give details in fact im proud i wrote this much!) Anyway hope that helps some more....... Peace - Wes

good call wes. lol. Yeh andrew, wes likes to boast alot about him knowing jason. Half the time i think he makes it up. lol. . i presonally agree with u and i think the DW pedals, especially the 9000 looks alot more styleish than the cobra. BUT i have played the cobra and i can promise u it is one of the nicest things i have ever played. I wish i had saved up for it instead of mine. But then again when we do gigs i can just steal wes's one. I would try the cobra coz i think u will probably fall in love with it and then buy it, adam
